What we experience with the mangrove snapper is a slick fast and what we call a bait stealer! 

Because of how that small but yet aggressive tap of a bite that happens so fast you can easily miss catching the fish. 

But once you hook into one be prepared for a fight that will take you by surprise! They fight til the end and if you leave slack in your lines? 

They have razor sharp teeth that will cut any heavy gauge leader presented to them.  

We like to use a light 15lb to 20lb 2-3 ft leader with either a small jig head or small circle hook. They are very smart and presentation is key! Or they will look past your bait.  

Sometimes they also like to stay high in sonar column. Leave it up to us at FGCO! We figure it out!!
