Everyone loves the taste of a Red Grouper Including myself! These fish live on the hard bottom and love to hide in crevices and nooks. 

They are definitely lurkers and almost anything that gets in front of their face or their territory they attack! 

They will eat almost anything including their own believe it or not! 

They love cut bait, sardines, squid, pinfish, blue runners, squirrel fish, grunts, yellowtail, pilchards just to name a few! They’re not that picky!! 

We love to present heavy leader with 6-8oz weights depending on current conditions. And of course an appropriate circle hook or weighted jig head. They like to enjoy their food from my experience. So don’t react quickly when they hit!! 

I tell my clients “let them eat it” you have circle hooks and they will hook themselves! 

Premature pulling will result in the grouper spitting out the bait. 

So it’s very important to follow your captain’s instructions.
